MY FIRST CAVE PAINTING

Description

Well there is no selection in Scuplture/Pottery for tile.

Our assignment was to make a tile. It could be any shape. It could be amorphous.

So, I rolled this one out and I said to myself, "Looks like a cave wall!"

So, then. It hit me! I knew the Geico cave men did not have any home decor for their apartment that was culturally appropriate for them.

So, now they do!

comment from a fellow student in my ceramics class. He's a long time ceramic artist. I'm a noob. The art teacher has all levels of artists at the same time.

Super job on this piece. The content, positioning, and proportions
are very nice. The quality and style of your carving feels genuine
and not too thought out or nervous. I like the clean/sharp incisions
you've utilized on your tribesmen and river while using a dull edge
on the prey and sun.

Question: What clay are you useing? How is it going to fire out? End
color.

Just for my taste I would love to see this or similar image on a
light buff clay body with some Iron and/or maybe other oxides rubbed
on the surface to get their coloring effets and cave wall appearance.

You could even consider a larger series of these and suspend them
from the cieling of a backed out gallery(like the one in theater
arts..hint hint) with individual hot light on each. Suspend on each
side of a walk way to give the viewer the feel of entering/walking
in the cave themself.

Possibly include other blank pieces near each cave painting with
nothing more than large soot marks to suggest where one stood
holding the torch as the other worked.

In short Ubernoob my uberbutt, very nice work keep going with it.
